The National President of the Alumni Association of Nigeria, Dr Oke Ewuru recommended capital punishment as penalty for whoever is found guilty of involvement in cultism on University campuses across the country. Ewuru who featured as a guest on the weekly current affairs personality programme "Sunday Morning Live on FM," explained that such punishment was imperative to serve as a deterrent to others. He stated that as long as robbers who killed others were being killed if caught, cultists too must be killed if caught since they too do kill others indiscriminately.Pointing out that expulsion or suspension alone was not enough for such a serious offence, Ewuru accused some lecturers and external influences of aiding and abetting the students in carrying out their diabolic acts.
