The new chairman of the Iraqi Governing Council, Dr Adnan Pachachi, said that executing Saddam Hussein would be meaningless

The new chairman of the Iraqi Governing Council, Dr Adnan Pachachi, said that executing Saddam Hussein would be meaningless. In an interview with the ABC in Baghdad, Dr Pachachi said it was his personal view that Saddam Hussein should be spared the death penalty. "When somebody has killed thousands of people, the death penalty for him seems a bit needless really I mean what does it achieve?" Dr Pachachi said.
