The Nigerian Party for Social Democracy (PSD) commended the recent decision to acquit Amina Lawal of her adultery conviction. "The decision to set Amina Lawal free of the death sentence earlier passed on her by a lower court was quite commendable. It has also brought to light the human side of the Sharia Law; while further proving that "Law is made for Man and not Man for Law," the party said. "PSD in the spirit of Democracy, Equity and Justice, salutes the courage of the judges of the Court of Appeal, their sense of equity, and above all their respect for human life which indeed remains a sacred gift from God and should not be taken away nor terminated by mere mortals," the party added.
