the Pakistan Supreme Court adjourned till August 1, the hearing of a suo moto case against the government's decision to commute the death sentence into life imprisonment after the attorney general sought some time for submitting reply to the matter. A three-member bench of the Supreme Court comprising Chief Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar, Justice Muhammad Qaim Jan Khan and Justice Chaudhry Ejaz Yousaf was hearing the suo moto case, taken on the government's reported decision to commute the death sentence into life imprisonment. Attorney General Malik Qayyum said that Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani and the law minister remained abroad and could not contacted. The attorney general sought some time so that he could take advice from the prime minister on the matter and submit a reply before the court. The court accepted the attorney general's request and adjourned the hearing till August 1.
