"The CHR has been a Pro-Life advocate ever since and is against the imposition of the death penalty law," CHR officer-in-charge Romeo Baldevarona said.
On June 6 the Senate and the House of Representatives approved the Senate Bill 2254 entitled "An Act Abolishing the Death Penalty," scrapping the Republic Act 7659 or the act imposing death penalty.
Reclusion Perpetua or life imprisonment without parole replaced capital punishment.
