the Presiding Judge of the Port Loko High Court Justice John Bosco Allieu handed down the death sentence after a 12 man jury returned with a guilty verdict of murder of one Sorie Bangura of Marwee Village in the Dibia chiefdom Port Loko district. According to the evidence produced in court, the State Counsel Yusif S Koroma was able to bring out facts that on a diverse dates between the 6th and 15th of July 2013 the accuse Kapri Kamara fought with one Sorie Bangura (now deceased) which led to his death on the 15th July 2013. Subsequently he was charged with murder on the 29th July 2013. Making his plea the Defense Counsel Aruna Jalloh asked for mercy as his client Kapri Kamara who is a relative to the deceased did not have any intention to murder his uncle. Sierra Leone, under President Koroma, however does not carry out death sentences. In April the death sentence was commuted to life in prison.
