the Saudi daily al-Riyadh, announced that a man, identified only as Abbas, “could be executed in the next few days.” The man was sentenced to death for murder in 2000. Apparently, the man was pardoned by the family of the victim upon payment of a 4 million riyal indemnity (approx 820,000 euros) as blood money. On the information available, however, Abbas’ family haven’t managed to raise the sum required, and the man therefore risks execution.
