The so-called 20th hijacker stunned a US court by praying for the destruction of America. Zacarias Moussaoui sacked his lawyers and read aloud the Koran.He said: "I pray to Allah for the destruction of the United States."
Muslim Moussaoui, 33, also called for the "destruction of the Jewish people and state".He is charged with six offences including conspiring to commit acts of terrorism, destroy aircraft and use planes as weapons of mass destruction in connection with the September 11 atrocities.
In court in Alexandria, Virginia, he asked to approach the bench and told District Judge Leonie Brinkema that his lawyers were part of a government plot to have him executed.Judge Brinkema ordered mental tests to make sure that Moussaoui was fit to represent himself.
