The South African government told the Pretoria High Court that it would not seek to extradite 70 suspected mercenaries arrested in Zimbabwe on charges of plotting a coup in Equatorial Guinea. Lawyers for the government argued before the court that there was not enough evidence to prosecute the alleged soldiers of fortune in South Africa and that this admission in turn could lead to their release if they were to come home.
