The Special Rapporteur on Extrajudicial, Summary or Arbitrary Executions stated that allegations have been received concerning law enforcement personnel who have used physical or other means of duress to obtain confessions in cases where the offense carries a possible death sentence. The Special Rapporteur was also informed that under Armenian law, the death penalty can be applied for economic crimes.
