The Sudanese Armed forces and the Military Intelligence...

The Sudanese Armed forces and the Military Intelligence arrested two men and two minors from the Birgid tribe, from a place between Janjonat and Labanti villages, near Doumma 12 Km North of Nyala, Sudan Organisation Against Torture (SOAT) reported. They are all residents in Janjonat.
Yagoub Abdella Yagoub, 18 year-old, Musa Ahmed Mohamed Kamees, 32, Hamid Abdel Majeed Ateam, 17, and Mohamed Mahmoud Abdella Hassan, 15, were allegedly subjected to torture to extract confession from them and about their involvement with the rebel group. They were beaten with sticks and kicked with boots on their stomach, heads, and backs and all over their bodies.
They were initially taken to the military intelligence offices in Nyala and detained there for 4 days.
They were moved to Nyala Central (Wasat) police station and remained there for 7 days. The four men were then moved to Nyala prison where they are currently being detained.
All four are charged with joining the SLA and committing crimes against state under articles 50 (Offences against the State, undermining the Constitutional System), 51 (Waging war against the state), 58 (Offences relating to Disciplinary Forces - Abetment of Mutiny), 107 (Screening or harbouring offenders) of the 1991 Penal Code, which carries the death penalty.
SOAT's lawyers have visited the detainees in Nyala prison and submitted an application on 26 October 2004 to the Attorney General requesting a medical examination of the detainees.
In a separate incident, three men and a minor are at risk of being hanged. All four are charged with murder under article 130 of the 1991 Penal Code, which carries the death penalty. All four cases are before the Criminal Courts in Nyala. Hammad Mohamed Abdel Rahman, 30 year-old, lives in Sanya Dalaiba. Hammad was arrested on 20 May 2004 by the police in Sanya Dalaiba village and detained in Sanya Dalaiba for seven days. He was transferred to Nyala police station and charged with murder.
The first session for Hammad case will be held on 2 November 2004. Abubakr Adam Osman, 17 year-old, from the Massalit tribe, Baker, lives in Hey Karari in Nyala. On 28 May 2004, Abubakr was arrested by the military intelligence from his house and detained for 4 days in military custody. Whilst in military custody, Abu was tortured by the intelligence officers. They beat him with their hands, kicked him with boots and whipped him with Sot. After the 4 days, he was transferred into police custody and charged with murder. The first session of Abubakr's case is will be held on 9 November 2004.
Ahmed Adam Musa 21 year-old, lives in Mouhajrea from the Berti tribe was arrested by the police forces on 7 April 2004. He was arrested from Mouhajrea and initially detained in Mouhajrea police station for 3 days. He was then transferred to Nyala police station and detained there for 7 days, following which he was charged with murder and transferred to Nyala prison and remains there till now. Mr. Ahmed first session before the court is scheduled for 30 October 2004.
Ali Najmel Deen, 33 year-old, Farmer, lives in Abu Selala was arrested by the police on 7 July 2004.
He was detained in Abu Selala police station for one day then moved to Nyala police station and remained there for 10 days. Mr. Ali has been charged murder and is detained at Nyala prison. The first session of Mr. Ali case before the court is scheduled for 2 November 2004.
