The Tanzanian government said there are no plans whatsoever to repeal the death penalty in the country.Answering a question in parliament, Justice and Constitutional Affairs minister Bakari Mwapachu said the death penalty was supported by many people and it is not the right time to repeal it. Mwapachu said some countries impose the death penalty even on rape, robbery and the use of narcotic drugs.He said due to brutal killings taking place, countries like the South Africa and the UK are considering whether to reinstate the death penalty in their statutory laws or not.
