the Tunisian Social-Liberal Party officially asked for the abolition of the death penalty in Tunisia. In a statement, the Party expressed "its commitment in the process of promotion and safeguard of human beings against every form of barbarity." The statement then affirmed that "it is not possible to punish a crime with another crime" and that "justice isn’t realised with a law of revenge." The Party therefore asked that "the death penalty be substituted with life in prison without the possibility of a pardon in the case of serious or intentional crimes."
At the same time, the Party addressed an appeal to the pacifist strength of the whole world to "defend the culture of peace and tolerance," urging "all democracies to contribute to this international mobilisation in view of the abolition of the death penalty."
