The U.N. General Assembly accused Myanmar's military government of condoning rape, torture, mass arrests, forced labor and summary executions, among other abuses, to suppress dissent. In a resolution adopted without a vote, the 189-member body praised the south-eastern Asian nation, formerly known as Burma, only for allowing the International Committee of the Red Cross to visit detainees earlier this year.
