The United States is to move to bar entry to Chinese nationals linked to the controversial global trade in organ harvesting.
American diplomats raise regular concerns about illegal organ transplants taking place in China.
In 2002 a former doctor from Tianjin, Wang Guoqi, told a US congressional hearing he had been forced to skin corpses of more than 100 executed prisoners and one who was still alive.
Others say foreign patients regularly travel to China for kidney transplants.
The Government in Beijing has consistently denied the practice, and says it is prohibited under Chinese law. But in a direct challenge to that claim, the US Congress wants to give the Secretary of State the power to bar Chinese and other nationals engaged in illegal organ transplants from entering the United States.
