Tomoaki Takanezawa and Mitsunori Onogawa were sentenced to death at the Saitama District Court, Japan, for murdering two pachinko parlor workers. According to the ruling, Takanezawa, 37, and Onogawa, 26, killed Tsunehisa Nemoto, 47, on February 23, 2003 in the village of Miyagi, Gunma Prefecture, and abandoned his body in a river after stealing 3 million yen in cash from a pachinko parlor where Nemoto worked. Takanezawa once worked at the same pachinko parlor. It was alleged that on April 1, 2003, the two also killed Makoto Ishibashi, 25, a worker at another pachinko parlor in Ota, Gunma Prefecture, in a failed attempt to rob it. Onogawa was a frequent visitor to the parlor.
