Two Iranian men convicted of murder were hanged publicly in Tehran at dawn, one of them in a park better known as a spot for dining out or hiking, witnesses said.
Hashem Anwarniah, 23, was strung up by a crane in wealthy north Tehran's Jamshideh park, the site of where he gunned down a police officer, Malek Hossein Amiri, during a shoot-out two months previously, AFP reported.
In Javideh district in the poorer south of the city, 32-year-old Farhad Rahmanpour was hanged for the murder and robbery of his aunt and her two children.
The Iranian news agency, IRNA, said Rahmanpour, a drug addict, killed his uncle's wife, Farahnaz, and her eight-year-old son Sina and newly-born daughter, Sepehr, to escape the scene when he was stealing the family's jewellery and cash.
