two men, Musamango Kasereka and Mumbere Nayisala, were sentenced to death by the Operational Military Court of North Kivu province sitting in Beniand. They were among the 11 defendants convicted with sentences ranging from five years of imprisonment to death for the facts occurred in the night of 19 to 20 December 2014 in Beni, when a group of Mayi Mayi of the ‘’Diacre’’ group attacked the garrison military prosecutor’s office in Beni and the central prison of Kwangwayi in order to free one of the four customary chiefs. Fourteen people were arrested and tried for this attack. During the hearings Musamango Kasereka and Mumbere Nayisala were presented by the prosecution as instigators of a new armed group in Beni called "Deacon" and sponsor of the last attack of the central prison Kwangwayi and the military prosecutor of Beni.
