Two peasants were killed in fresh attacks by the weyane (Ethiopian government) against the Hadiya people in the southwestern part of the country. They were executed in a prison in the Osmaneto neighbourhood, in the Soro District of Hadiya. The weyane, continuing their campaign of killing, looting of property and arresting the Welayita people over the last few months, had moved on to Hadiya where a number of weyane troops were deployed.
