TWO SENTENCED TO DEATH FOR KILLING GIRL AFTER RAPE IN C’NAWABGANJ

a court in Chapainawabganj, Bangladesh, sentenced two people to death for killing an adolescent girl after raping her. Quiyum Reza, 29, and Shafiqul Islam, 30, of Mayamari village in Bholahat upazila were also fined Tk 1 lakh each. According to the prosecution, the men violated student Sheuli Khatun and strangled her on April 1, 2000. A case was filed against four people. After examining records and witnesses, Judge of Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Arup Kumar Goswami handed down the verdict acquitting two other accused from the case.
