Two Yemeni men convicted in separate murders were executed by firing squad, the prosecutor general's office said. Ali Saad Ahmed was executed on February 3 in Dhamar province, 100 kilometers (60 miles) south of the capital San`a, for the murder of a fellow Yemeni, Yahya Mohammed Ali. On February 2, a firing squad executed Mansour Saif al-Harsami in Ibb, located 190 kilometers (120 miles) south of San`a, for the murder of Mariam Mohammed al-Baadani, also from Yemen. The prosecutor general's office provided no further information on the crimes. Yemen imposes the death penalty for rape and murder.
