three judges of the Ugandan Court of Appeal, led by Justice George Engwau, upheld the death sentence of Ronald Seruyange, 27, for murdering his grandfather Erick Mafuta in Rakai district.
Seruyange was sentenced to death by high court Justice Mwangushya in Masaka in 2003.
Seruyange confessed to the murder of his grandfather through food poisoning.
The convict however challenged the sentence, which he said was too harsh and excessive. The petitioner accused the judge of not evaluating the evidence on record and denying him the right for mitigation of the sentence.
The judges ruled that taking away human life is a wrong that cannot be corrected, forgiven by human beings deserving only a serious punishment like Death.
