UGANDA SHELVES PLAN TO GIVE DEATH PENALTY TO HIV-POSITIVE PEOPLE CONVICTED OF GAY SEX

Uganda president Yoweri Museveni said that his government will bow to international pressure and back away from a controversial bill that would have given the courts the right to hand out the death penalty as punishment for any HIV-positive person convicted of having gay sex.
