the Kabale High Court in Uganda sentenced two men to death for murder in separate cases. Justice Lawrence Gidudu convicted Justus Tukamushaba of Kabale district and Richard Nsabimana of Kisoro. Tukamushaba murdered Brenda Twijukye, 17, a resident of Kahondo trading centre in Kabale district on August 26, 2006. The court heard that Tukamushaba sliced Twijukye’s neck. Another man, Nsabimana, was sentenced to death for killing his three year old son who was suffering from epilepsy. Nsabimana, a resident of Bigira village in Kisoro district, allegedly strangled the boy in the kitchen and threw the body in a pit latrine on February 14, 2005. “The manner in which he tormented his son was very brutal. Nsabimana should suffer death,” Gidudu ruled. The judge said the two convicts were free to appeal against the judgments within 14 days.
