Ugandan Foreign Affairs Minister, Sam Kutesa, said that he will try to get the Chinese Government to commute the death sentences of 40 Ugandans. The 40 were found guilty of drug trafficking. According to Kutesa, Uganda will use diplomatic means to get its citizens to serve their sentences in Uganda.
