Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni pardoned Chris Rwakisisi, who was serving a death sentence for kidnapping with intent to murder. Rwakasisi was convicted in 1988.
He was the security minister during the second administration of former President Apolo Milton Obote between 1980 and 1985. Also pardoned are Ezra Kusasirwa and Ali Fadhul. Fadhul was the minister for regional administration during the regime of Idi Amin Dada.
Other convicts, Samuel Sempijja , Benon Hazimana and Wasswa Abdallah had their death sentences commuted to life in prison.
