Ukraine asked the Council of Europe to do its utmost and make Thailand's authorities vacate the death sentence to Ukrainian citizen Viktoria Mamontova.
Mamontova was sentenced to death in Thailand on August 17, 2001 for the storage of heroin with the purpose of selling it. Her attorney is preparing an appeal to the superior court.
Under Thia laws, a court verdict can be appealed within three months after decision-making. Mamontova also has the right to appeal for mercy to the king of Thailand. She is the first ukrainian citizen sentenced to death abroad.
