UN's special rapporteur of the Commission on the independence of judges and lawyers Dato'Param Cumaraswamy has expressed appreciation for facilitating his mission, and said the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia had shown utmost cooperation with him, as well as expressed its keenness on providing him with required information about its judicial system. Asked about his impression when he visited the prisons here, he said "the prison I visited was nice". Underling the importance of reforming the judicial system, Cumaraswamy regretted the absence of the Federation of Lawyers in the Kingdom. "I have discussed the issue of capital punishment with some judges," he noted. Cumaraswamy said he had discussed the problems of the expatriates with the labour minister
