A diplomatic note from the US Embassy in London to the Foreign Secretary, said Ahmad would only be tried by a federal court with "the full panoply of rights and protections". The note was presented at Ahmad's resumed extradition hearing at Bow Street Magistrates' Court in central London. The 30-year-old, of Fountain Road, Tooting, South London, was accused by the US of raising money to support terrorism in Chechnya and Afghanistan via website and e-mails.
