USA - Alabama. District Judge Brian Howell sentenced Mark Dwaytt Brown to death

District Judge Brian Howell sentenced Mark Dwaytt Brown to death by lethal injection for his participation in the capital murder, arson, burglary and robbery in the beating death of members of the Benefield family in 2005. Brown, 37, had been found guilty in December 2008 and a jury recommended the death penalty. Prosecutors alleged Brown, along with his brother Shannon Brown and Timothy Patrick Morris entered the Benefield home and bludgeoned 88-year-old Lena Benefield along with her sons Reo, 69, Shable, 59, Durward, 49 and afterward set their house on fire and taking a large sum of money.
