Houston County Circuit Judge Ed Jackson has sentenced Kenneth Adam McKinnis, 22, black, to death. Judge Jackson adopted the jury's recommended penalty instead of giving McKinnis life in prison without parole. Jurors voted 10-2 in October for the death penalty. Jurors convicted McKinnis of capital murder in the Aug. 19, 2006 killing of 21-year-old Byron Belser.
