Retired Shelby County Circuit Judge D. Al Crowson sentenced Bart Wayne Johnson, 31, white, to death. Johnson was found guilty last month on 2 counts of capital murder for the December 2009 shooting death of Police Officer Philip Davis. The Shelby County jury voted 10-2 on May 13 for a death sentence instead of life without parole.
