Leroy White, 52, black, was executed for the 1988 shooting death of his estranged wife Ruby White, black, despite a plea by their daughter, now grown, that his life be spared. White becomes the 1st condemned inmate to be put to death this year in Alabama and the 50th overall since the state resumed capital punishment in 1983. White becomes the 3rd condemned inmate to be put to death this year in the USA and the 1237th overall since the nation resumed executions on January 17, 1977.
