USA - Alabama. The Court of Criminal Appeals reinstated the death sentences of Ronnie Kirksey, Corey Wimbley, and Ryan Russell

The Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals has ruled in the cases of Ronnie Kirksey, Corey Wimbley, and Ryan Russell that its judicial death-sentencing statute does not violate the right to a jury trial set forth by the U.S. Supreme Court in Hurst v. Florida. The Supreme Court had vacated the state court's orders affirming the three death sentences and directed the court to reconsider its decisions in light of Hurst.
