The U.S. Supreme Court has granted certiorari in the case of Ronnie Lynn Kirksey. The judgment is vacated, and the case is remanded to the Court of Criminal Appeals of Alabama for further consideration in light of Hurst v. Florida. The case is Kirksey, Ronnie V. Alabama. Kirksey, Black, was sentenced to death on 30/04/2010 (see) for the April 15, 2006 murder of Cornell Norwood, his girlfriend’s 23-month-old son. Kirksey was convicted in February 2010, and an Etowah County jury unanimously recommended a death sentence. Kirksey was convicted of murder made capital because the victim was less than 14 years old.
