A Maricopa County jury gave Manuel Ovante Jr. the death penalty for the June 11, 2008 slaying of Damien Vickers, 18. Ovante, 22, Hispanic, also received a life prison sentence for the murder of Jordan Trujillo, 29, the same day. Police say no motive was ever established in the shootings. Ovante pleaded guilty last December.
