USA - Arkansas. A jury has sentenced Mauricio Torres to die

A Benton County jury has sentenced Mauricio Torres, 45, Hispanic, to die for the capital murder of his six-year-old son, Isaiah. He also received a 20-year sentence for a first-degree battery conviction. Isaiah Torres died on March 30, 2015. Police said Isaiah Torres died as a result of severe child abuse. The defense said Mauricio Torres didn't knowingly cause his son's death, so he didn't deserve capital punishment. Isaiah Torres' mother, Cathy Torres, also faces a capital murder charge and is set to go on trial at a later date.
