Riverside County Superior Court Judge Richard Fields formally sentenced Robert Castro, 34, a Pomona gang member, to death. A jury made a death recommendation on Dec 27 (see). Castro was convicted for the 2008 robbery slaying of Juan Genaro Gonzalez. Castro is also serving a life sentence for a Fontana murder.
