Judge Jon Blue sentenced Joshua Komisarjevsky, 31, white, to death. Judge Blue followed the Dec. 9, 2011 (see) sentence of a New Heaven County jury. Komisarjevsky should be executed for the murders of Jennifer Hawke-Petit, 48, and her daughters, Hayley, 17, and Michaela, 11, during a home invasion on July 23, 2007. Komisarjevsky joins accomplice Steven Hayes and nine other men on Connecticut's death row. The 2 paroled burglars tormented a family of four in an affluent suburb before killing Jennifer Hawke-Petit and leaving her daughters, 17-year-old Hayley and 11-year-old Michaela, to die in a fire. Hayes was convicted in 2010 of raping and strangling Hawke-Petit and killing the girls. (as for Hayes, see 08/11/2010 and 26/11/2010).
