USA - Delaware. Two men sentenced to death for a fatal beating have received new prison terms

Two men sentenced to death in Delaware for a fatal beating and robbery have received new prison terms. Superior Court Judge Jerome O. Herlihy sentenced both men to die nearly two decades ago. Today he re-sentenced Jack F. Outten to 38 years in prison and Steven W. Shelton to 39 years. Both are eligible for good time credit. Outten and Shelton had been sentenced to death for the 1992 slaying of 64-year-old Wilson Mannon Jr.. Prosecutors had since become wary of their star witness and Outten's death sentence had been overturned. The state allowed the two men to plead guilty to second-degree murder. Steven Shelton's brother Nelson was convicted of murdering Mannon and was executed in 1995.
