USA - Florida. A jury sentenced Donald Smith to death

A Duval County jury voted unanimously that Donald Smith (62, White) should receive the death penalty for abducting, raping and killing an 8-year-old girl, Cherish Perrywinkle. Smith was convicted last week in the June 2013 death of the girl, who was abducted from a Walmart store in Jacksonville after he befriended her mother. In tearful testimony during his trial, Rayne Perrywinkle said she thought Smith was a good Samaritan because he had offered to buy her children clothing. Circuit Judge Mallory Cooper will officially pronounce her sentence for Smith.
