USA . Florida. A jury sentenced John William Campbell, 39, white, to death for killing his father.

A Citrus County jury recommended 8-4 the death penalty for John William Campbell, 39, white, a man found guilty of using a hatchet to kill his father, John Henry Campbell, 68, in August 2010. Campbell admitted he killed his father, but his attorneys argued that he did not scheme to kill him and cover it up. They blamed the act on the younger Campbell's depression and use of crack cocaine. Circuit Court Judge Ric Howard has not yet set a sentencing date.
