A Miami-Dade jury voted 8-4 to recommend that Brandon Rolle, 26, black, be executed for the July 2006 slaying of Illinois tourist Ronald Gentile, 17. Ultimately, Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Dennis Murphy will hand down the sentence, likely during the summer. The jury decision is not binding but judges usually follow jury recommendations. The same jury convicted Rolle in October of 1st-degree murder and robbery with a firearm. Gentile was in town to celebrate his son's 17th birthday when he got lost while driving a rental car. Prosecutors said Rolle shot and killed Gentile when he stopped to ask for directions.
