In Clay County, Gary B. "Goldie" McCray Jr. was sentenced to death four times for killing 4 people in 2004. Circuit Judge William Wilkes opened the sentencing by reviewing the crimes for which McCray, 28, was convicted Sept. 5. On that date, he was found guilty of the pre-mediated murders of Oliver Ellis Jr., John Whitehead, Phillip Perrotta and Robin Selkirk. On Sept. 26 the same jury that found him guilty, unanimously recommended the death penalty.
