USA - Florida. Judge Julie O'Kane vacated the death sentence of Derrick McLean because it was not unanimous

Orange County Judge Julie O'Kane (Ninth Judicial Circuit Court of Florida) vacated the death sentence of Derrick McLean because he was sentenced to death years ago without a unanimous jury decision. McLean, now 39, Black, was sentenced to death by a 9-3 jury vote for the murder of 16-year-old Jahvon Thompson during a home invasion in 2004. The case is scheduled for another status hearing in early May.
