USA - Florida. Prosecutors agreed to drop death against Brandon Bradley

On June 23, Brevard County prosecutors agreed to drop the death against Brandon Bradley. Bradley, now 31, black, was sentenced to death on June 27, 2014 (see) after a Brevard County popular jury, on April 8, 2014, voted 10-2 for the death sentence. Bradley is accused of killing Deputy Sheriff Barbara Pill, 53, on March 6, 2012, during a traffic stop. The death sentence was overturned on March 30, 2017 (see) because it was not voted unanimously by the jury. . In a statement released to the media, State Attorney Phil Archer wrote that “the Pill family has requested that we agree to a sentence of life in prison for Mr. Bradley rather than seek the death penalty through a new sentencing proceeding.” Bradley will be formally sentenced to life in prison on July 23, 2021 by Judge Charles Crawford.
