Darren Vann (47, Black) pleaded guilty to seven murders and will be sentenced to seven concurrent sentences of life without parole. In exchange, Lake Superior County prosecutors dropped the death penalty against him. Vann admitted he killed, between 2013 and 2014, Afrikka Hardy, 19, Anith Jones, 35, Teaira Batey , 28, Tracy Martin, 41; Kristine Williams, 36; Sonya Billingsley, 53; and Tanya Gatlin, 27. Lake County Judge Samuel Cappas reviewed the terms of the plea agreement that calls for him to be sentenced to life in prison without parole. Vann is now set to be sentenced May 25.
