U.S. District Judge Sharion Aycock threw out the death sentence of Mack Arthur King, 53, black, because the man is mentally disabled and is not to be executed, and gave the state 60 days to resentence him. King was sentenced to die in Lowndes County first in 1980, then again in 1998 and again in 2003 in the August 3, 1980 murder of 84-year-old Lela Patterson at her home during a burglary. When he was arrested, King had some of her belongings.
