Circuit Judge David Evans of West Plains sentenced Lance Shockley to death. A jury in March convicted Shockley, 32, of the March 20, 2005 1st-degree murder of Missouri State Highway Patrol Sgt. Dewayne Graham, 37. the same jury deadlocked on whether to recommend a sentence of life in prison without chance of parole or a death penalty. Judge Evans chose the death penalty.
