The Senate backs a bill that would ban the death penalty. Senate Bill 185, sponsored by democrat Senator David Wanzenried, abolishes the death penalty for life in prison without parole. The measure passed it's second reading today 26 to 24 on the floor. The bill now faces one more largely procedural vote in the Senate before going to the House.
